Christchurch Music Centre is a volunteer led organisation that has, for more than three decades, supported the musical ambitions of many young people in the local area.
The aims of the group are to:
Inspire and encourage the talents of young people to make music.
Offer opportunities to perform to the public at a variety of venues.
Provide an enjoyable, friendly, and learning environment to enable musicians to develop their talents
Support musicians of all ages and abilities
Play a variety of music types, from traditional to modern, from classical to pop.
and, above all, to have Fun!
At present we run:
First Access band (beginners )
Junior Wind Band (grade 1 to grade 4)
Senior Wind Band (grade 4+)
Brass Quintet (by invitation)
Importantly the repertoire of both wind bands is a selection of music that our young musicians enjoy and want to play. Through the expertise and guidance of our Musical Director, Emily Neagle, there is a balance and variety of musical styles, and this results in an enjoyable and entertaining format.
Both bands are frequently asked to perform at events across East Dorset, providing musical entertainment for the switching on of Christmas lights, supporting various charity events, and entertaining crowds on summer afternoons by Christchurch and Bournemouth bandstands.
Christchurch Music Centre is an independent group, and is fully self funded. We are committee run by a team of volunteers who work very hard to help make the group the success that it is.
